hey guys, looking for a few places to check out childrens bikes. We usually goto Smyths but fancied shopping around before buying my 2 children bikes. Halfords isn't an option as their customer service is awful, is there anywhere else around the NorthWest that is recommended?

Evans cycle's do nice kid's bikes, avoid halfords and go-outdoors unless you plan to build it yourself. Quality of the kids bikes at go-outdoors was quite poor i found.

Diddn't know Smyths still existed!

(Does Gamages?)

Quick Google later, yes it does, but not Gamages sadly! :( )

I have a Gamages "Put-you-up", a sort of folding bed come sofa, it has been described by the GF as the most uncomfortable thing she has ever sat on (Though it is a reasonably confortable bed ;) )

It is clearly from a different age. I think there are small cars out there that probably weigh less than this "Machine" does!

Smyths is huge!

Both of mine have had Specialized Hotrocks and loved them.

I cant find the article but there was something about decent kids bike having the bottom bracket brought slightly forward to account for them having shorter legs or something.

Leisure Lakes Bikes have stores in Bury, Lancaster, and between Preston and Southport. Their range is ok and you can browse it online. They are not the cheapest but the staff (at Lancaster anyway) are really helpful.

If you want great value you can do a lot worse than check Chain Reaction Cycles (based in Ireland) but you only get charts for sizing frames etc.
