We got a Carrera from Halfords for our 4 year old and it's been great and the staff were super (we bought it, then they discounted it, and we got the difference back without any hassle).

At that age, something cheap as the sprogs will grow. Ellesmere port Halfords has served us well on several occasions. Perhaps you just have a bad branch.

Frog bikes have a nice option where you can buy direct from them online and they will ship it to a local bike shop for putting together and setup, we only have a tadpole so far but it is a lovely piece of kit and holds it's value well so when he's finished with it we can sell it on.
