After some thoughts or similar experiences.
I am looking at a gas or wood fired stove installed. In the lounge we have an electric fireplace which does not have a chimney breast. I think this was an addition by the previous owners. Due to wall the house layout I was resigned to having a flue run from downstairs straight through an upstairs bedroom (to be boxed in) and out of the roof. Not ideal but palatable.
As it's that time of year I was in the loft getting the Christmas decorations and for the first time noticed that we have a steel flue which runs out to the roof and has a clay cap. It comes into the loft and then diverts back into the cavity wall. I have been trying to determine what type of flue this may be, a prefab or pre-cast and therefore determine if is definitely class 2 or if it could be class 1.
I will obviously get a professional out but was wondering if anyone seen similar? The house is a c. 1990 build if that helps.
