Chimps are hunting... with spears :O

I don't think it can be referred to as evolution per se, more adaptation and learning from experience.

Many primates use tools for hunting/obtaining food items, this is just another example.

Don't tell Bush. He'll give them guns and send them to Iraq. Might have less of a 'friendly fire' situation though...
 
Wow! Old Britney has lost it big style now! First it was the parties, then it was the head shaving and now she has gone to the jungle to hunt with chimps! What the hell is she gonna do next? :eek:
 
I see this as clear evidence of evolution, or at the very least, one of those small steps that make a big difference in the direction of a species. We are very similar to chimps, we share a common ancestror of course, and it comes as no surprise to me that another higher primate has used their intelligence in such a manner.

In behavioural terms, it was only three or four hundred thousands years ago that the mighty 'human' race were at the same level the chimps are now. :cool:
 
Chimps already use tools to hunt for food, they use lick twigs and stick them in terminate hills. The terminates stick to the twig.

They have also been observed using rocks to crack open nuts (i.e put the nut on a rock then crack it with a second rock).
