Chinese GPUs are coming

I'm expecting Polaris level performance in the most optimistic case but the more players the merrier!
Tbh, if they come out competitively priced then Nvidia and Intel have shot themselves in the foot.

Would I buy a Chinese GPU? Probably.

I'd expect some western response like ban of imports or exceptional import taxes to kill any value proposition.

Imagine if they get bought by Xiaomi and suddenly they get global distribution...

I think this would be good for everyone. A well funded Chinese competitor would be FAB and while they're at it they could build some fabs.
Anything to shake up the US duopoly that has led to stagnant gains in terms of price/performance. If they do what Huawei did to Apple as
in most of the bells and whistles without a questionable but well marketed 'ecosystem' we'll all benefit.

Maybe someone should dare Elon Musk to buy Matrox...

We get click bait like this every 6-12 months and the cards never appear outside China.
Nearest we have seen are the knock off GT 450's badged as GTX 960

Im all for another competitor, but we all know it takes good drivers to support a graphics card. I just wouldn't trust a new chinese company to be able to to compete with Nvidia and AMD immediately.

Yep, I doubt US would allow a Chinese competitor now for CPUs or GPUs in US/UK market.
Those are mostly made for the Chinese market anyway so we might get some smuggled samples for review at best. Zhaoxin is pretty much the case in point.

That's a selling point, I'll take lower prices to feed the CCP, I have no morals left by this point they've been erased by overpricing.
lol I was serious btw.

I have a Xaomi phone and it basically came with an advert engine preinstalled that gives you adds for every single thing on the phone.

thankfully with the help of a pc it was possible to remove all the bloat, chinese spyware and advert engine crap they had preloaded on it.

I can imagine how annoying a chinese GPU would be, instead of fake inserted frames like NVDA/AMD it would be generating advert frames :D

apparentlky its normal over there to have tech with build in addware

So was I.

I would seriously consider a Chinese GPU, assuming they're known to be "safe" be it via firmware analysis or something. If it did come with ads then yeah would be a no for me, or having to install any "Chinese Geforce Experience" kind of thing.

That’s because they’re direct copies of AMD or Nvidia card and whomever tried to sell them in the West would be sued back to Jurassic Period.
