Chips and multipy

I guessing that the current C2D and C2Q will have fallen a bit by Autum (yes it is a bit off).

So what I am looking for is something that is easy to oc to 4ghz + on the current mb. Was thinking if there is a chip with a 10x multipy ( I know that E2180 has one but it seems a little bit of a backwards step for me).

Was thinking alond the lines of

E6750
E6850
Q6600 (is this x8 ?)
E8400 (x9)
E8500 (x9.5)
Q6700
Q9300
Q9450

Budget will be from £100 to £180, cannot afford to go higher give summer expense and that fact that another machine will need an overhaul at the same time (to which my cuurent chip will be going in).

Any help appricated.

4GHz speeds are achieved mostly with Wolfdale 8xxx series Duos, time will tell how Yorkfield will clock.

The Q6600 has a 9x multiplier

can't you just crank up your FSB?

the Q6700 has a 10x multiplier. i doubt it'll do 4ghz without water, though...

If you want 4ghz, go for an E8400. Decent price/performance ratio.
