I bought a zalman reservator a few days ago and received it yesterday only to find that on the perfectly good clean surface of my gpu waterblock 4 distrivtive chips.

When I say chips they're not exactly scratches as you can feel them and see them.

What should I do?

I'm not happy to use it but it's the hassle of sending it back or having eving go back in the box and have it being picked up.

If I asked for a replacement on the whole item would ocuk send me the new one and pick this one up or would I have to wait for them to look at it.

My concern is that it's not meant to be like that so obviously is defective.

should I send it back? if so the whole kit or just the gpu packet?

I've posted a thread in the forum below to the staff but no ones replied yet, just wondering what you watercooler people think as it's going to be my first experience.

Cheers

contact the shop and rma the block - it's in it's own blister pack (i think)
but you many need to send the whole lot back - webnote and call the shop.

A zalman res was my introduction to watercooling - Have been using passive watercooling on my own kit ever since (4 years now)

You will never get the temps of custom fan assisted loops, but the quiet has a major effect on quality of life, especially at night/early morning

The surface of the block should be like almost like a mirror - very smooth indeed. Common sense would only call for the GPU pack to be RMA'd, but most etailers can't handle that level of complexity, so I suspect it will all have to go back.

You're not being unreasonable at all. You bought a new part and it should be near as darn it perfect. As you bought it mail order you have two options - send it back for a replacement or send it back under the DSR for a refund.

That's what the regulations are there for.

cheers guys.

I've been annoyed with purchaes before but it's not effected performance and it's only down to the fact that zalman have polished the surface to that degree of perfection that these imperfections aren't meant to be there and will effect performce (to what extent I can't say).

Hopefully they'll still be instock as I have to wait until tuesday to phone them and sort it out :(

Thanks again :)
