Hi All can somebody clear something up for me please i,m confused about what is the newest chipset of these 2 the 975x or 965p ,i know that the 680sli &650sli are new ,just wanted to know about the other 2 thxs

975x is the newer chip set but uses the older southbridge.neither support sli but 975x is naitive crossfire and most major manufacturers have a bios to allow crossfire on the 965 chipset(only if it has two full size pcie slots ie p5b deluxe/wifi,gigabyte 965 dq6 etc)

thanks for that ,i,m learning ,so what is the better chipset out of the 3 ? or the 965p & 975x  ?

in my opinion only, the 965p is the better chip set as it allows a higher over clock with the lower mhz chips ie e6300 and e6400 which i use.if you go higher a lot of people on here have found the 975x to be the better chipset.but as mentioned i use the lower mhz cpu's at the mo so have expierience only with the 965 in the shape of the p5b deluxe wifi on my other pc....eg_esi

right ,sort of got a cross thread here ,so 965p is newer than 975x ? right

P975x is an updated chipset for the Core 2 Duos.

P965 is a brand new chipset developed especially for the Core 2 Duos (tho it will also run 775 Pentiums and Celerons).
