First off let me say I am thinking of going for C2D E4400.
It can all be a bit overwhelming picking between all the different mobos. I have searched and searched but can't decide on which chipset to go for.
Price is an issue to me (£70 max i guess) so I reckon, looking at OcUK prices in particular, that the following chipsets will be an option for me:
P35 (limited choice)
965P (more flexible as more boards available in my price range)
945 (cheap
)
650i
I am not too fussed about "future proofing" as this system will be used as is until completely replaced somewhere down the line. I guess the 965 would be more suitable for me as I would have more boards to choose from.
But would a P35 significantly outperform a 965?
Are 945s even worth considering?
And i don't know much about the 650i :s
It might also be worth noting that I am unlikely to overclock, but one reason I have chosen the E4400 is for the potential to do this when 2ghz speeds are slow!
I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter and any helpful contribution will be appreciated!
