When performing a clean install of windows, is there much benefit in installing the Intel chipset drivers?

Reason I ask is that windows seems quite happy left to it's own devices without installing them. Is there a performance or reliability benefit?

Windows 7/Vista already contain them (Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility) as part of the OS, so they will automatically be installed (on an Intel system) during the OS install process, and you can always update them (if you wish) after install by downloading the latest from Here

They are needed if running the Intel ICHx(R) in RAID or AHCI mode...
