Anyway ive got an option to get a 8800gt for £68 or 4670 for around £57. is it worth it to get the 8800?

As the 4670 is a new card, but i think that 8800gt is still better.

So what you think?

Its pretty much on for at least 5 -8 hours for general non 3d programs, doing work or surfing whatever, but as i say if i had a better graphics card i could start to play all my games again. I have a Ati radeon xt1650, terrible i know but my old one is bust.

I will probably see a huge boost in performance if i switch to 8800gt right?

In games, yes. Bear in mind though that second hand 8800GTXs are now £75-£85 and if you buy a BFG or EVGA they have 10-year transferrable warranties that usually result in a GTX260 coming back if it breaks. On that basis they are well worth a punt.

This is actually a very good idea.

If you can get one, I'd definately go for this method.
