heya guys looking to purchase a new hard drive but can't decide between the samsung f3 or the new western digital blacks? would I notice any big differences in performance
 
I would go for the Western Digital Black myself. The F3 is a little faster but you would be well pushed to tell the difference other than when running bench marks.

I would take the black too, also, if you have a 8** series amd chipset motherboard? the F3 can have problems which can be fixed with a firmware update, or you maybe lucky enough to get a F3 with a newer firmware, so no issues.
 
Sounds like a plan :)

I used my WD CB for my OS drive for about a year while I saved together some pennies for an SSD for the OS. It was fine, and fast (although a little noisy :p)

I have the F3 on my 890FX motherboard, no problems what so ever, though its only a storage/linux drive


I'd go for the F3, the price difference doesn't justify the speed boost
