Hi all,

I'm 18months into GR Yaris ownership and 5k miles. I'm looking for some choice upgrades. It appears, now that the dust has settled, that 300bhp is close to achievable with an intake and an exhaust, which is pretty astounding. Of course, as you'd expect, every man and their dog has an opinion on what works and what doesn't.

So, I'm looking to make some upgrades, but ultimately nothing that can't easily be returned to stock. Eventuri intake seems to be very popular and recommended, evidencing 14bhp improvement. Exhausts, I'm less sure on. Akropovic have always delivered, and their "slide on" exhaust claims 18bhp (IIRC). Reviews are mixed though, certainly on the sound, which is subjective. I absolutely do not want a droney exhaust.
Both of these mods, plus a new lighter battery could save nearly 20kgs which is a plus too.

Has anyone ear sympathetically upgraded their GRY yet?
 
You can only try but I'd be wary of any claims of 14HP from an intake, these kind of claims are normally absolute best circumstances and maybe a very ideal run with the intake and not so ideal without.

Exhaust wise again hard to call.

What I will say is speak to Andrew at DTUK (MD for UK) and has two GR's or had in his personal fleet, he had some great success with some custom maps on the DTUK box, about £400 direct from him or £599 installed by RRG Toyota. The people in the whatsapp group with his maps have seen 20-30HP gains but more importantly one guy was posting 4.1s 0-60 runs on Dragy APP, a good second plus improvement, so real world gains, of course some have reported no gains but I do believe they were not part of the group and as such no access to the custom maps.

At £400-500 if it works well for you is the best return on investment and far better than dropping 2-3k on an intake/exhaust. Of course the other option now is Collins Performance in Congleton who can offer a true remap to the car which results in around 305HP.
