Hi Guys

Ordering my MBP next week and I'm also looking at external hard drives to time machine and general data storage..

I like the look of the Western Digital 1TB "My Book" Studio Edition but I seem to see a fair few customer reviews on different sites saying they die fast? Now I know that you only ever really here stuff if people had bad experiences as they guys that have none are busy working away none the wiser....

I've looked at that as it has 1TB of space and the price is around £90/£100 delivered.....

Any other units that stand out that I should be looking at in that price range, happy to get smaller if the build quality is good enough..

Many thanks

I'd get a good internal 3.5 drive, and chuck it in a cheap enclosure.

My WD died shortly after I sold it

I use a Toshiba 1TB 3.5" USB drive. I only use it to back up videos and music from time to time so I don't know how it well it would perform as a time capsule/machine (not sure about the terminology). I bought mine for about £75, I think they still sell for around that price. I can load stuff onto the drive at about 1-1.5GB a minute.

I have a 4 month old Samsung F1 750gb to use so this could be an option but I'd like to use the Firewire 800 connection, suppose I could try and locate a caddie that allows me to do this..
