Hi, just bought BFBC2 and BF2 and love both of them.

Also love using the flying vechiles, so now im tempted into buying a joy stick, im just wondering which one you guys would recommend. My budget is around £40-50, will i be able to pick up just a casual gaming one for this price that is fun?

Currently considering http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-053-SK&groupid=702&catid=288&subcat=352

or perhaps the cheaper one basing on all your opinions,
Thanks in advance.

To be honest with you most of these cheaper joysticks are the same.. The one you selected seems nice with all the features it has compared to some of the more standard ones.. Only time I use a joystick is for flight sims and for normal gaming the xbox controllers or the keyboard and mouse for FPS games.

The one I use now is this one and I don't advise you buying it unless you are a serious flight simmmer.. it's fantastic for that...

The joystick before that I had was the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro .. Still works to this day like new but only problem is it uses a game port not USB to connect to a PC, so after updating my sound card and Windows it became non-compatible (love how they force you to update a perfectly fine device grrr)...

Was thinking of buying a CH Products Joystick, they are expensive though.

I wonder if a Gameport to USB converter would work with the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro.

No they don't work on the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro because it's digital and the Gameport to USB converters only work on analogue joysticks..

There is a make your own interface to make them "work" ... I tried it and was hit and miss how it worked and I found it got upset any time you overclocked the PC. I lost interest in it and decided to update to a new joystick when Logitech introduced the G940 Flight System Controller with force feedback, separate dual throttles and pedals.. Happy simmer again thanks to Logitech.

Original site for the make your own gameport to usb converter for digital joysticks, but seems to have pics missing.

Another site with the device too.

CH Products are great too btw, only reason I got the Logitech over the CH stuff was because their Pro pedals were not too great compared to logitech's and I think I would have missed the force feedback that I had on the MS sidewinder.

Size comparison between the G940 rudder pedals and CH Pro Pedals. Also the build quality on the Logitech was much better and the added carpet grips on the logitech held them solid to the floor without them slipping, the CH pedals I found would move around and would annoy me in time.

lol had that joystick about 11 years ago now? Played phantom menace with it, loved it.

Don't think ATM I'm willing to fork out for pedals etc. Just looking for your basic one with throttle and the stick like I posted as mainly it will be just for bf2 and bc2.

What are the flight sim games like these days?

I would get the one you mentioned mate, It even seems to have a dual throttle so it's pretty good. Grab that if you can, they don't seem to have them in stock at moment..

Flight sims on the PC are amazing.. Just go to youtube and type in the search "fsx" or "x plane" or "fsx rex 2.0 hd" .
