Hi Guys

I'm currently looking out for an 15 inch Laptop. Its going to be used mainly for gaming, with a mild amount of photo editing.

This is not going to be a replacement for my gaming rig, but something to use when I am away from home, which happens 3-4 times per week.

Im looking at spending about £1200. I quite like the look of some of the custom laptops, but my wife would like a mac book pro, which falls near to the budget.

What do you guys think.

Cheers

The mac book that would be able to play games is £1500 and then you wl only be able to lay games that macs allow. Look at the clevo range you should be able to get a system comparable to a desktop stock 3750k and ati 7850 for that cash.

In fairness that isn't true. If you can absorb the cost of a Windows operating system you can always use bootcamp. Being a Mac owner for the past 4 years I can attest to this (in a couple of days I won't be though) although with some games you'll run into awkward issues with frame-rates when using bootcamp. If gaming is your primary concern use one of the builds on a custom laptop website.

Incidentally what would your wife use the machine for? I'm getting the impression it's primarily a machine for yourself for when you are away, so what does the wife do that makes her opinion valid lol.

Something to bear in mind. Apple products have a high resale value. I can sell my 2008 Imac (model is imac 8,1) for as high as £500. I'll probably sell to a mate for £400 though. I paid £800 for it originally.
