Hi all,

As a noobie to this I have been reading copiously about components. Can anyone say......

Is there still problems with Gigabyte mobos going into loop ?

Should I steer clear and go for ASRock or Asus ?

Will accompany AMD A10-6800k and Viper black mamba 8gb. No gaming just general duties and a wee bit video/pics.

Thanks

I steer clear of Asrock. Gigabyte are great and have the advantage of a UK based RMA. Asus in my opinion are producing the best quality motherboards. FM2 boards don't have high power phasing and not many have heatsinks on the VRMs. While an A10 isn't exactly a power muncher, you start to see the difference when pushing overclocks, especially if your using the onboard GPU. A few FM2 cheaper boards by Asrock had a bit of a rep for exploding caps.

You do get what you pay for in boards though, so cant really say that a £44 Asus board will outshine a £70 Asrock board. Still, considering reputation and past experiences, i would go for Gigabyte or Asus and also pick the board which has faster memory compatibility, since these trinitys shine with good memory.

General consensus seems to be that Gigabyte's RMA process is superior, and that Asus' RMA process is a bit of a pain.

I've not experienced any of them personally, it just seems to be the general opinion from what I've read. No doubt Asus produce quality boards, you just might be in for longer downtime if something does go wrong.

Thanks for replies.

I am happy to go with Gigabyte. My concern is the apparent lack of a cure for the loop fault I seem to read about frequently !

Do todays boards still display this ?

Thanks
