IF you had a choice would you get a ATI 4870 or a nvid 8800 GTX?

Obviously the nvid would be 2nd hand but been told by a few friend that the ATI is a lot better for gaming. I can afford both but I cant make my mind up cause I can only get 1.

As above, 4870 is miles better.

Ive got a 4870 1GB just now, my last card was a 8800GTS.
