Currently have a Cooler master v850 psu but this is the second one as the first I had to rma because it started to make a noise. Unfortunately this one has now started buzzing under load and when I move the mouse etc.

I can't get a refund, either a replacement or for an extra £18 I can get a Corsair RM850X.

What would you do. Noise is a big factor for me. I've gone through 3 psus in this build because of noises.

Thanks :)

That's a strange one as the Coolermaster V series are Seasonic built units and always get good reviews. It does look like they will soon be replaced by Enhance Electronics built units so either Coolermaster is cheaping out on the oem or there is a inherent problem with them.

As this is the second you have had with a problem I would have lost faith in them and go for something else. The Corsair RM850X is a excellent psu. The RMx series are one of their best models. Review here.

I have seen a couple of "fixes" for the problem you describe and the one that crops up most is to turn the sound up to full in Windows and then control it with the volume knob on the speakers. Not sure why it happens or how this fixes it but it does work most of the time.

The thing is the v850 is a more expensive psu but they want to charge me more for the corsair?!

The first psu I had got sent back to and that was a corsair but just a basic one.

The coolermaster is a really nice psu maybe I've just had bad luck. I think i'm going to give it one last try. 3rd time lucky! :)

The windows volume is on 100% as i'm using an audio interface for my audio. The sound is not from the speakers but the psu itself.
