Need a laptop for university. Had a look at the standard Dell/Samsung/Toshiba/IBM/Asus/Acer laptops. Nothing for me beats the feel of a Mac, and I guess after using my mum's for so long I'm used to it.

With HE discount I can get a less expensive (not cheaper :p) MB. I've had a look at the current range and must say I really like the retina MBP because it is so much thinner/lighter, however is it worth £300 more than the standard 15" MBP?

Had a look at the MBA as well, however only one thunderbolt port and a few other things turn me away from that.

Any thoughts?

(Wish they made a 13" Retina MBP)

Just bought one, its amazing, the only down side being any other screens I look at now are prehistoric!

Bear in mind that if you were to spec up a standard 15" to the base spec of the retina, it is a lot more expensive than retina.

It'll be my university laptop (EENG), however I also use Serato for DJing and Vectorworks Spotlight for lighting design in the theatre. (I'm also looking at getting Lightroom as it is less than £40 on student discount). Hopefully a 13" MBP retina will be along soon!
