Since when did buying Monitors become so complicated?

I know monitors depend on your requirements but I'm really lost when it comes to all these different resolutions etc.

At the moment I have a 27" IPS Asus panel with a resolution of 1920x1080.

I'd like to buy a new monitor but I'm not sure what to go for or what I can go for... should I go for a 4K monitor or a 1440 etc.

I'll be buying a new rig when the new Graphics cards and CPUs (AMD) come out.

It's probably not a straight forward choice as I do photography editing and I'm getting back into gaming, after a decade or so hiatus, and will need a good monitor for FS 2020.

I'll be buying the latest AMD CPU, so 4700X or so, with 32GB RAM and an RTX 3080, so can I play games at 4k with this, or should I go for a lower resolution, and which monitor would be suitable for photography editing and gaming.

4700x 32gb and 3080 would be oki to start.

But...
We do not know when 4700x will be available. News will be given soon but it will not be a launch..for sure.

If you buy 3080 next week then I am not sure you will wait for new cpu and tests and benchmarks...

and if you do not buy 3080, it will be out of stock maybe till end of the year... czuse there will purchased in 5 min I am sure.

You could also buy your monitor, and play on it with what you have or make a small upgrade until we have zll results for Zen3, big navi...

If I had to upgrade now, I tzke i9 10850k , Z490 mb, 64gb ddr4, I try to get 3080 asap, and wait for 3080ti to replace it. On 34 21'9 1440p or 38 1600p.

Depends on your budget ...

4k is nice but you will be limited to 27 or 32 inch.

1440p is nice cause it becomes standart. 21'9 34 3440x1440.

There is also 1600p on 38 but more expensive.

Playing games in 1440p at 144hz is already resources eater, GPU and CPU...so it costs more than playing 1080P, especially if you go for 144hz monitor...

Hope it can help.
