Choosing a motherboard

I was looking at different motherboard for a gaming PC, and I quite like the look of the Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 DDR3 motherboard - but is it necassary to spend £250 on a motherboard, or can I cut down the price here?

Also - What do you think:
Nvidia GTX 295 or ATI Radeon 5870

Personally I would never use all the bells and whistles of a 250 quid board.

Recently I've bought a asus board and have had no issues with it so far.

As for the gfx, I would go with the 5870 purely because it is the new tech and dx11 looks shiney ;]

So you think that it wouldn't have any great impact on my system to downgrade the motherboard? say b £50 - £70

Yeah go for the P6T Deluxe, you wont notice any difference, and +1 to 5870
