Choosing a PSU - Please Help

Hi there

I have decided on getting a new graphics card Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum and it has 2 x 8 pin connectors & my 5 year old psu has no 8 pin connectors, so im looking to get a modular psu, min 700-750 watts that would accommodate for my needs. any help would be greatly appreciated

Intel Core i7 3770 @4.8ghz
Asus z77 Sabertooth Mobo
Asus GTX 480 (slightly over clocked (by ~100mhz)
Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum (Future)
Samsung Green 16GB ram
SSD + HDD (boot + storage)
Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower Case
Thermaltake Tough power 750watt psu (about 5 years old)

Note:

I do care about the looks of my case, not fussed about the actual psu but the cable management etc.

Nah joking aside it's rather a subjective topic based on how much you use your PC, what you use it for, and the spec of the components.

If the OP keeps the PSU 5 years again and uses the PC 4 hours a day at 425W component draw the gold would save you £5 a year at a unit rate of 12.678 p per kWh over the bronze.

£25 saving over the 5 years covering the extra cost of the gold over the bronze, albeit it a pretty small profit.

yeah i use my pc 3-4 hours per day max. if im honest, idc about the electricity cost. £20-30 is more important for me at the moment since im stretching my budget for a psu. i have not bought a psu in the past five years but Seasonic didnt exist back then and to me OCZ sounds like a better brand, or is that just my perception.

i appreciate the help btw! trying to keep the costs down, any other options?

Some of the Corsair ones also use Seasonic internals but you have to be careful because not all of them do.

I don't know much about the OCZ ones I think they are OK but not the best, I probably wouldn't be happy pushing an OCZ to the limit on a daily basis whereas I would have no qualms about doing that with a Seasonic based one.
