I am currently choosing between these 4 CPUs and wondering which one, and if the 5960x makes sense, there is about (for me due to circumstantial pricing) $361 difference from top to bottom, the cheapest of the 4, the 6700k being available for $173. Yes, that is dollars not pounds as currency conversion changes a lot, and yes i know the pricing, and yes it is right.
I am asking for the performance numbers regardless of cost, and whether or not it is worth adding the extra money or if it would be better spent on another GPU.
Also, what X99 motherboards are worth their money? Are they all reasonably the same...?
How much RAM will i be needing? I was thinking 32GB as its not too badly priced and would cover me in all areas.
I spend the majority of my time gaming, so that would be a big thing to include when providing numbers and such.
Is the 5960x worth the extra money?

5930k and 5960k both have the same 40 PCI-E lanes.... (28 for 5820k)

even for tri/quad GPU's for games you would be better of with the hex core over the octo core as it will like clock 200mhz or so higher and pretty much no game currently benefits from more than six cores.

Buy the 5960K if you do lots of rendering, or thread heavy stuff

Like I said before, pricing for me is very strange due to certain circumstances, heres the prices im dealing with, currency converted (im in the UK) the 5960x is £345, 5930k is £190 (forgot to ask about 5820k) i would imagine about £140 ish as i got caught up in the 5960x for ******* £345 haha and 6700k for £112 and the 6600k for £77

NO these are not stolen, and NO they are not from OCUK competitors. Let me make that clear RIGHT NOW.

Jealous. I'm about to buy a 5820, and would happily put the extra £40 across to get a 60 at that price.

But still, considering the discount, 5820/30 if you plan to go mental with multiple gfx cards.

Yeah haha its pretty nifty, i was going to go for a 4670k and luckily i didnt! He sent me pictures of the shop showing me prices etc and i had to double check they were real!! £77 for a 6600k!
I think the 5960X is overkill and i am scared i may not be able to put the rest of the system upto equal quality and will be wasting the absolute monster the 5960x is!
Thinking about it, a 5930k and 1, maybe 2 980tis (also somehow available through intel) will be the most likely route. Might even see if they have any G-Sync monitors, but i am unsure on the shipping situation, or customs as I havent asked about that, i suspect intel cover it.
He said they literally have everything, but cases aren't really worth sending over unless shipping etc is free which i largely doubt.
I shall have to have another chat with him, he also showed me around the Intel offices (very very cool) and see what everything is going to cost and shall reply to here to get opinions.

Okay, so now ive found the worst news ever out. Import charges. What is the best way to lower them? Also roughly how much will it be? I expect a lot but roughly?

Is your American relative not able to get her colleagues in Intel UK to send it to you?

Even if not, you're getting a very good price and you should just stump up the import duty.

That is actually a very good idea I will get my dad to ask him!
Regardless of that outcome, i think i will just end up paying the import fee, although it makes it less of a bargain, its still an absolute steal!

If you want to avoid the import charge, you need to tell the sender to mark the parcel as a "gift" with value under £47. And that is it. No import charge for you.
BTW at that price, I would get as many 5960X as possible before I get the maximum quantity of other cpus. Yes I am greedy as hell! :P

Would customs check the package? Or what is the fine if caught :p
