Choosing between a GPU

8 GB Asus ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3070 TI vs Zotac 10GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080

Hi Guys,

I am new to building pcs so really have no idea what I'm talking about - I can get either of these 2 graphics cards for similar price.

Which is better?

No contest as the 3080 is based on a bigger die with more hardware dedicated to the graphical processing. I've had both and the 3080 should also run cooler and quieter.

3070 Ti is a stressed version of the 3070 so I'd recommend the 3070 or 3080 based on budget skipping the Ti but in your case the 3080 is an easy choice. Plus the extra 2 GB of VRAM will help with more demanding games at higher resolutions more specifically if you were to game at 4K.

The 3080 would require a faster CPU though at the higher resolutions to avoid being bottlenecked. This applies somewhat less for the 3070 Ti.

Yea I'm going with the AMD 5900X so shouldn't have any issues there.
