choosing between mobo EVGA or ASUS

The 650 board uses a different chipset that only gives you 8x PCIe lanes if you run the board in SLI compared to the 680, also the 680 provides you with a 3rd PCIe slot where the idea is to plug in some physics card.

The 650 does have 2 IDE channels compared to 1 on the 680.

If you are on a budget the 650 is most likely the board for you. If you can afford the 680's they should perform very similar as they are virtually the same board, so you should look at price and warranty and decide which one suits you the best.

Hope that helps you out.

I have both EVGA 680i and The ASUS P5N-E SLi. If you can afford it, the EVGA board is very good, very stable and their support is the best I've ever encountered (they are swapping boards FOC for quad-core users because they don't clock well enough!).

The ASUS is almost as fast and half the price, but it's a touch more finicky about overclocking and you miss out on a few features like the 2x 16x PCIe slots, the dual Gb Ethernet ports and two extra SATA ports, but it's half the price.

So, if you feel the extra features are justified for you, then the EVGA is a better motherboard, but you won't be that much less impressed with the ASUS.
