I have to choose between a custom pc with a intel i3 processor but with a weaker graphics card and a amd fx 4100 processor with a better graphics card. I want the pc mainly for battlefield 3 purposes. Sorry this is short and to the point but im typing on a mobile.
Intel i3 system:
CPU:
* Intel i3 2120 2nd generation processor. 2 cores running at 3.3Ghz.
MEMORY:
* 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory.
HARD DRIVE:
* 1000GB Serial ATA II Hard Drive.
GRAPHICS:
* Dedicated ATI HD6450 -1GB Graphics Card
Unknown everything else such as psu wattage.

AMD fx 4100 system:
Overclocked AMD FX-4100 4.0GHz Quad Core CPU
8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
1TB Hard Drive Storage Space
Nvidia Geforce GT520 1GB Graphics Card
High Performance Motherboard - Its a Gigabyte SKT-AM3+ 78LMT-S2P
Stylish Gaming Case & 450W PSU - Unknown psu brand

£320 is my budget as well. I would probably be upgrading the psu and the graphics card to a nvidia 550ti in the late future.

EDIT: I have been looking at OCuk's barebones packages and they look very cheap and also, Very reliable. Any advice on them would be nice as well

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I suspect the links go to competitor websites and these are against the rules, best bet is to write the specs down ;)

Budget seems to be the deciding factor here. I've bought a few budget systems from overclockers over the years for friends / family. No problems with any of the gear or the service.

Probably the spec below, you can remove the GPU and use the onboard GPU for a time, also the PSU will be poorer quality, bit like the one's supplied in the builds in your spec.

YOUR BASKET
1 x "Primo PLUS 510i" Intel H61 DDR3 Ready Barebones (Socket 1155) £204.98
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST500DM002) £59.99
1 x Asus HD 6670 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card £47.99
1 x OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £17.99
Total : £348.35 (includes shipping : £14.50).

I think I'm going to do this excluding the graphics card at first and the DVD drive as I will use steam for some time and I've got an external DVD drive just in case. Thanks very much for your help
