Looking at a FX 6350 for a cheap build, what are the board requirements for an overclock, am I basically looking for a board with phase rating 8+2?. The GA-970A-UD3 is the cheapest Asus/Gigabyte board that is higher than phase 6+2 (only 970 board I can find with 8+2 ive come across) . I do not require SLI or features of the 990x or 990fx, so am I missing anything, will this board be ok for a reasonable OC.

That board is ok. The Asus 970 R2.0 EVO has a very good reputation for overclocking. If you get the 6350 you're almost at the price of the 8320!

get a 6300 it overvlock the same!!!

i would use the asus sabertooth 990fx

but if u are on a buget The Asus 970 R2.0 EVO is verry good my son has one

I've seen people get their 8320s even to 4.5GHz on the Asus 970 EVO board. Although it's 6+2 phase, it's very high quality.

The 6300 and 6350 are identical except for the stock clock. There's no guarantee you'll get a higher clock. If you're happy to spend on the 6350, just get the 8320 instead. It'll do better in newer games.
