Hi Guys

Building a new Z87 4770K build soon and just wondering how much memory choice effects overclocking.

Would I find it easier to achieve a decent overclock (yes I know how terrible Haswell seems to be for reaching decent clocks) if I had say TeamGroup 2400mhz RAM as apposed to some generic 1600Mhz Ram from Corsair or something?

I know when you increase the HT and multiplier this also effects the memory clock, so say I wanted to achieve a 4.4 / 4.5 Ghz clock would this be simpler if I didnt have to worry about the memory speed increasing or would some 1600Mhz RAM cope fine with a bit of overclocking? I know you can put in a divider if memory became unstable but ideally I would like to run the RAM at its full potential.

Thanks guys

I am in the EXACT same position. Looking forward to seeing what people's opinions are. Also want to OC a 4770k to around 4.4 and wondering if I need any special memory for that?

If you just increase the multiplier then any RAM will do as that won't affect the memory clock. Any RAM speed will do if you're planning to get the 4770K.

The Team Group kits seemed to clock quite well in 8 Packs Superpi competition, reasonably priced too. Check the thread out in the Overclocking & Cooling section if you haven't seen it already.
