Folks,

Are there any tweaks or settings to ensure smoother playback of x264 files over a network?

Mine glitches every 5-10mins or if the scene is "busy" - it's not the codecs because when running from the local machine direct its fine, just when streaming from another computer - its across a Gigabit LAN via Virgin MEdia Super Hub but is becoming very fruystrating.

I dont think it's to do with the machine its streaming from - as that is my main rig and a i7 with 6GB Ram with nothing else running while streaming - and the media pc is capable of running the files fine when stored locally - leaving just the Network as what I can think of to causing the issue.

Ideas?

Is it something with the content? Try to copy the data onto the media pc and run it directly off that. You can then identify if there is something wrong with the PC or the network?

Both Network ports are built in, so no idea if they are cheap or not, believe both are Realtek Gigabit - off hand cant recall exactly.

I'll try and direct link and see if that helps.

Cheers,
