I am trying to play a Mpeg video file. WMP doesnt recognise the file type so I have to resort into using VLC player. The file is a big HD clip. I have no problems playing .ts files or any other ones but this clip is pushing my CPU to its maximum, hence the choppyness.

Like i said any other video files, large or small play fine but this is killing me.

Any thoughts

If it plays in VLC but not WMP then you might not have the right codec. Try ffdshow.

try ffdshow with media player classic

download gspot and drop the file in there to get more info on it :)

I have got FFdshow installed. Even when I stream it to my Xbox via media center it still choppy..

Unless I need to alter some settings in FFdshow? I not too sure
