I have a GForce FX 5200 card (I know it's old and poor by todays standards) which plays back choppy video, it stops for a split second then plays again. The video source does not matter be it AVI, mpeg, from DVD or HDD, I have tried all sorts of things like updating drivers, bios appears ok, no overclocking etc.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

for zero cost, try defragging the hard drive.

try overclocking the cpu.

but to be fair a better graphic card might be your real answer.
