Chorrol Recommendation: Fingers of the Mountain (Oblivion)

I just reinstalled Oblivion today and got my mods etc. installed again

I'm trying to do the Chorrol Recommendation quest (mages guild IIRC) - I'm supposed to find the Fingers of the Mountain quest at Cloud Top.

There's supposed to be a body by the broken pillar in the middle of Cloud Top, but it's not showing up for me.

Any ideas?

Double check just to make sure. It's a pretty burnt up old corpse, not a normal one. Otherwise, sounds like a bug.

Entering:

setstage MG05Fingers 30

into the console would skip to the point directly after picking the book up.

Are you sure you've gone high enough? IIRC there's a pillar or two lower down - the one you want has (IIRC) four pillars in a square, with the body in the middle.

Ah, if it's in between multiple pillars then I'm not at the right pillar. I'm by the single broken pillar.

Hmm, that screenshot looks a lot like where I was. Maybe as Meridian said I'm at the wrong pillar. I will check again.

Meh, it's broken:

The little green arrow indicating where the quest is is also pointing pretty much where the body should be as it moves instantly to the opposite end whenever I walk over the area.

Is there any fix at all? I'd rather fix it than use "setstage MG05Fingers 30"

Could be a mod upsetting it somehow, but it seems unlikely

Fast travel back to Chorrol, then save and exit. Disable the mods and start again. Fast travel back and take a look.


The cheat code won't help you much unless you add the book to your inventory, because one or other character will look for it there.

Maybe you need to return to Teekeeus before going to cloud 9 to retrieve the book, or did you already do that?

Thanks for that, but I've already spoken to both Earana and Teekeeus, both still want me to travel to Cloud Top

Save before this one, but maybe try

movetoqt

in the console. Moves you to quest target. It'll probably just take you to where the body should be, but worth a try.

That did move me right on top of where the body should be but it's not there

If only it moved me to the actual body, then I'd either end up under ground or flying somewhere (that's assuming the coordinates for the body are messed up )

(Wow at Qarl's texture pack - only just installed this BTW so it's not causing the problem)

I'm guessing the charred body only gets spawned once I have the quest? As in if I didn't have the Chorrol Recommendation the body wouldn't appear?

So, if I remove the quest from my save file (not sure how) and then get it again from Chorrol maybe it'd work.

Anyone know how to remove quests?

Meh I wanna get into the mages guild, even though I'm a warrior !!

Would "setstage MG05Fingers 10" (rather than setstage MG05Fingers 30) work?

Woop "setstage MG05Fingers 10" worked

The command seemed to reset the quest and set me back at the same place, so no loss.

The body is there!

The command doesn't effect any of my other quests does it?
