For various reasons our family tradition has become a BBQ on xmas day.

Over the last few we've had butterflied leg of lamb, loin of venison, stuffed joint of sirloin and rolled turkey breast stuffed with chestnut stuffing and wrapped in bacon (then tied and cut into rounds before cooking.)

I'm a little stuck this year for an idea. I'm thinking Christmas kebabs - turkey, sausage, bacon rolls....

Can anyone inspire me with an idea?

the BBQ is the typical charcoal open plan with wire rack affair. :)

Nope - but I do BBQ a lot ( as in every week all year ) . Shame you've not got a kettle BBQ, you would have a lot more cooking options. How about a leg of lamb with a pastrami rub or pork tenderloins with some sort of stuffing

If you do it a lot you really need a Kettle, Weber or similar. You have so many more options. Smoking, Slow cooking etc. With the right fuel and a kettle it will keep 280F for 5 hours or so.

I BBQ a leg of lamb every christmas day on mine. We normally have 15 or more for xmas dinner and it started off because people wanted turkey and I hate it. To cook something I wanted and still have space for every thing else in the oven I used the BBQ and have been ever since.

I have seen a recipe for xmas stuffing burgers that I'm considering this year.

being a south african, we like to call BBQs a BRAAI, and i am sure you would have noticed we are pros.....

Right first off,, no pork bangers on a BBQ!! that is a no no..

the best meat on a *BBQ* is the following ..

1 - STEAK (Sirloin) for your marinade, try this, Worster sauce, tomato sauce , sugar, and coke a cola ! let it soak for at least 12 hours!

2 - Whole Chicken ( But it's called a FLATTY - so cut the chicken down the middle underneath, then you just open her up

3 - Lamb Chops! - it's a must!!!!

4 - Also go down to your local butcher and ask him if you can get Boeraworse ! it's awesome ! it's south african Beef Sausage :)

now for a little bit of fun, get a onion, and kinda cut out the core like u would a apple. then get a big chunk of cheese stick it in, wrap in tin foil, and stick in the coals,
oh yes, please tell me you are having this BBQ on Coals, and now GAS !!!!!!

any ways, hope that kinda helps :)

have a great X-mas !
