Small group of us going out after work soonfor our own xmas meal, seeing as this year the company were too tight to bother paying for one themselves, but that's kind of okay because there's only so many times you can go to Bodeans etc, especially at Christmas. We're feeling festive. Hopefully as they'll only be 3-5 of us we can still book somewhere although we finish at 4pm so can eat at 5pm before most ppl are out of work.
Looking to eat something Xmas'y themed, although it doesn't have to be a traditional turkey dinner. Emphasis on getting a good quantity of food without quality suffering too much (around £25-35pp excluding drinks?). I suppose central-ish is going to be easiest location-wise as well as we're from all over - e.g. I looked at The Bull & Last but it's a bit out of the way as we're all mostly from SE/South London and work near Canary Wharf.
Folly Bar - http://www.thefollybar.co.uk/ - £28.95 3 course meal or £32.95 with mince pies and coffee... - their xmas menu seems identical to some other places (e.g. The Drift Bar in the Heron Tower, even using the same pics etc) so I'm thinking it might suck.
Punch Tavern – http://www.punchtavern.com/ - under £30pp for any of the set menus.
The Crusting Pipe – Covent Garden - http://www.crustingpipe.co.uk/ - 3 course menu is £28.50 (+£3.50 if you want some xmas snacks on arrival) - seems nice although like Folly, I found some other place with an identical PDF menu in all but name (same owners?)
Simpson's Tavern - £35 for 3 courses plus mince pies - http://www.simpsonstavern.co.uk/
Yalla Yalla – Lebanese place doing a sharing xmas menu for £29, http://www.yalla-yalla.co.uk/menus/seasonal/ - something different
I'm sure there's literally hundreds of others but people's experiences/reviews would help and be appreciated. Of the stuff I listed, I'd be happy paying a bit more but my colleagues are tightwads and so value options are probably going to be more favourably received! Cheers.
