Christmas Nibbles to wow the family

Hi Clockers. I'm after some ideas that I can easily knock up in and around Christmas for the family. My folks have just had a new extension and a new kitchen fitted, so my Dad is keen to get some serious cooking done over the festive period.
We go shooting and fishing, so there will no shortage of game and rainbow trout
After watching Jamies and James Martin comfort food programmes, I'm quite keen to give this type of food a whirl. Easy, no fuss but delicious food.
But was wondering if any of you guys have some fail safe ideas that go down a treat.

I've made all kinds of canapes, made my own biscuits for cheese, made all kinds of pastry and cheese type nibbles and breads and bruschetta...

What I really love about Christmas is the cheese and pineapple hedgehogs, you can't beat them!

I have a party each year (it's my birthday close to Christmas) for the family. Here's a trio of sure-fire hits that are simple and taste awesome:

Sun-dried tomato and rosemary palmiers
Mini sausage rolls
Smoked salmon blini canapés

Obviously use the BBC recipes as a rough guide, adjust the flavours to your own tastes.
