Usual stuff, pyjamas, shoes in some fashion. Annnnnd stocking stuff

Keeping it cheap this year, both poor

Already done over a grand on her and its not even December yet! Heavy hitters currently include Pixel 2 XL and jewelry. Clothing and smellies to follow ....

I used to worry about this year on year, but after a while I became aware that whatever I purchased for the missus was subject to criticism (irrespective of financial value).

So in short I gave up and now I tend to take her on a spending spree in a shopping mall just prior or post Xmas and let her get what she wants.

Sweet, nothing like a bit if appreciation

Me and my girlfriend don't bother buying anything for each other on Christmas and Birthdays and just put it towards holidays instead.

I actually did buck the trend slightly and buy her an £80 Fitbit last year, but that was it.

The big hitters tend to be genuine surprises, obvious effort with thought and execution, or plush gifts. If it doesn’t fit into one of those categories... fail tbh :p

For example, you can be quite creative for not necessary a lot of money. Last year (alpha males get your vom bags ready) my favourite treat was a ‘home made’ advent calandar (possibly from a kit you can buy online) - each day having a photo of a memory / something silly / an injoke... treats were typically little choccies or guitar plectrums... major treats included gig tickets for evening and the final one was ‘look under the bed’ and there was a wrapped pressie for me, for the opening right then!! My face lit up like it was Christmas Eve. Because it was.
