Inspired by The Hairy Bikers I made Christmas Pudding Vodka yesterday.

300g/10½oz mixed dried fruit (sultanas, currants, raisins)
75g/3oz caster sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp ground mixed spice
6 cloves
½ whole nutmeg, finely grated
1 orange, zest only, finely grated
1 unwaxed lemon, zest only, finely grated
750ml/1 pint 5fl oz bottle good quality vodka

Mix the dried fruit with the sugar, cinnamon sticks, mixed spice, cloves, grated nutmeg and citrus zest in a large bowl.
Pour over the vodka, and cover tightly with cling film.
Place in the fridge and leave for 3 days, stirring once each day.
Line a sieve with a double layer of fine muslin and place over a large, clean jug.
Pour the dried fruit and vodka mixture into the sieve and allow to drip through into the jug.
Pour into a sterilized bottle.

I put mine straight in a large jar which is what they did on the show however the recipe on BBC says bowl then jar after 3 days, I used Absolute vodka and saved the bottle so hopefully it'll fit back in, note that the current Absolute bottles are special London editions which are quite nice, I even procured a couple of matching glasses.

Have a pic I'll let you know how it tastes.

:) Ever tried Ketel One?

Hmm no will keep an eye out.

Can't stand the Red Square bottom of the range Vodkas too much nastiness, just started drinking decent Vodka with mineral water and a squeeze of lime or lemon, quite nice really and cuts the morning after in half.

Well today was the day to decant the vodka, smells fantastic however all the dried fruit has now become nice plump vodka enfused fruit

I'm still straining and intend to wring out but I think I'm looking at 50 - 60% return on investment
