Hey all

Can some one please help me, my girlfriend streams a lot on twitch but her computer is having some problems with newer games and with dropping frames quite a lot.

I'm thinking she should probably upgrade the entire computer in reality so for christmas i'm thinking of buying her a new motherboard/CPU/Graphics card or a combination of the 3.

Can anyone suggest along with a link any of these parts please? my budget is around 300-350 quid.

Thanks in advance!!

Hahaha yes not that kind of upgrade :p

sapphire radeon R9 280 Dual-X 3072MB GGDR5 Graphics Card

Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

AMD FX-4 4200 @ 4.0 Ghz Turbo AMD Radeon Quad Core Gaming Processor

Yep, also configured OBS as close to recommended specs as possible but still dropping.

have to remember she usually streams Overwatch/Fallout 4 or a mixture of decently new games so i'm learning more towards a processor/GFX update but again i'd prefer insight from people with more knowledge.

Wait to see prices tomorrow when they change. Intel prices are silly right now.

Aim for the best Skylake i5-6XXX you can, a compatible socket 1151 motherboard and 8-16GB of DDR4 RAM. That will help with streaming. The video card upgrade can wait for another time. You won't be able to squeeze in a better video card along with the rest she needs right now for better streaming.

Alternatively, go for an older socket 1150 motherboard and an i7-4790 or i7-4770, and re-use the DDR3 RAM. Even better for streaming, but you'd be on an older platform and pouring money into something harder to upgrade later on. I'd move to the newer platform, personally. The Skylake i5 will compensate by being a bit better for gaming than i7-4XXX (and will stream better than the FX-4200).

Could get an 1150 motherboard and look for something like the xeon e3-1231 v3 2nd hand. Its a pretty solid chip for streaming and might be able to find it inside of your budget. Just double check the motherboard compatibility before committing.
