Happy holidays everyone!

what a christmas it has been

My xfi decided to give up the ghost yesterday, so i took it out, waiting to send it off for a RMA. Since i got the xfi i ahvnt been using to onboard sound module that came with the motherboard. So i found the little blighter and plugged it in. All was fine, managed to boot to safe mode and started to install the drivers. Then the pc BSOD'd with the whole physical memory dumping is occuring.

Fine, turn off the computer and restart it, but nothing happens. The screen stays blank. The fans are on the waterpump is whirring but nobody is home.

The dfi diagnostic LED thing shows 3 red lights. Looked it up on the web. RAM cannot be read. Ok then, so i take out the memory, try them in different slots, togehter, seperatly etc. Still the red lights. I then try clearing the bios with the jumper and the battery methods. Still 3 red led. The memory is fine though because it is running in another computer.

So any ideas you wonderful knowledgable people?

Thanks in advance.

The DFI manual pg15 says

XXXX - System Start-up
XXX - CPU Detected
XX - DRAM detected
X - VGA detected
- System Boot-up

If your system hangs with 3 LED's I would guess it's failing at the CPU.

Not a good xmas present then. Will the MB post if you take the CPU out?

I know I had trouble getting it to boot when i first got this board.

Yay, just re-sat the processor and all was bubbly again. Gave me an excuse to tidy up in there and clear the dust out of my radiator....
