For the last few weeks I've had a problem with Chrome causing a massive amount of 100% disk usage on a Windows 7 laptop. It happens whenever Chrome is running, and persists for 10 minutes or more. Sometimes it doesn't stop unless I do a hard reset using the power button. I did a clean install of Windows and the problem came straight back.
At first I though it was AV scanning (I use AVG free), but the problem remained even after I uninstalled AVG.
Paging shouldn't be an issue as:
- Memory is showing as 50% free (2Gb of 4Gb available)
- Only 1 Chrome tab is open
- No other applications are open
- It's a completely clean Windows 7 install.
I have basically had to abandon Chrome and use Firefox, which doesn't cause these problems.
Has anyone else had this problem?
