Chrome loading some pages slowly

Been using Chrome for a while now with loads of bookmarks and a few addons, and is also installed on a SSD drive so it is very quick in general but pages with loads of content/pictures on the first page takes ages to finish load up compared to firefox so it is not my internet connection.

Lets take one of my most used website

It takes at least 15 sec + to be able to scroll down smoothly, I know lol its not that bad for some but when you compare it to firefox with its 1-2sec it is bad.

Is there any tweaks I can do or should I just ditch chrome and go Firefox again.
Love the sync feature with chrome to my gmail account etc.
 
Is this with multiple tabs open?

I too loved many things about Chrome, and had convinced myself that I had ditched FF for a while.

However, after a month or two, I got really fed up with the while PC freezing when I opened multiple new tabs in quick succession. Not only did the PC freeze up momentarily, but the new pages either took an age to load, or just failed to load at all.

Eventually reluctantly went back to FF. Miss several nice things about Chrome, but that one deal-breaking issue is at least no longer a problem.
