Chrome opens loads of processes

I know chrome runs multiple processes for each tab and then 1 for flash and 1 for the core stuff but a couple of minutes ago I had a couple of tabs open, ocuk, youtube, another forum and a blog and my laptop started to slow up and the mouse gets jumpy across the screen/

So I opened up task manager and find that there's like 15 / 16 chrome *32 processes all at the top of the list going by cpu usage?

Closed chrome, waited for the processes to go away and reopened chrome and the same pages and it only had 6 processes open?

Is this a bug or something?

Remember Chrome has a process for each extension too. But if it keeps happening have a look at the task manager within Chrome it might help you find out what is using what. Spanner>Tools>Task Manager

Thanks guys,

I poked about in the settings and found disabling the predict network activity option sorted out the problem, chrome still opens a load of processes (as it should do), just doesn't crash anymore.
