i've had my asus laptop for 4 years and never once seriously looked at the fast boot express gate os.
for one thing it's meant to be read only, so every time you boot you need to chnage the resolution for 4:3 to a suitable 16:9 version, additionally you have to enter the wifi pass each and every time.
Currently, the express gate is unsintalled and the partition is completely removed. I started afresh from a ssd drive and decided to ditch it.
I'm really surprised that there are no guides online explaining an easy way to install chrome os on a new partition and set the express at hotkey to point to the chrome os.
This link explains a roundabou way, problem is it requires me to reinstall expressgate which I haven't been able to do: http://neurallanes.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/boot-chrome-os-using-instant-on-button.html#comment-form
