is this out yet?

I thought it was spring next year but you know with google they have beta's everythere.

just had a look and there's no word on any google address but other websites say they have downloads for it

The short answer is no, it's not out yet. There is an extremely limited old build available I think as a virtual machine, but that's about it. It apparently will also be extremely hardware specific when it is released (first requirement is requiring an SSD for example).

an ssd?

I thought they wanted to get people off windows and the aim arguement was quicker startup. considering ad ssd then I can't see that working and from what I understood at the time was that it was just really a browser.

not at all. it's primarily for netbooks. they're not trying to compete with windows on the desktop.
