Hi,
I am a little confused and wonder and looking for some info. I am looking to buy a tablet / chromebook for general browsing, and a bit of fun gaming, watching movies etc. My galaxy SII is good for this, and games like dead trigger and black ops, but the screen is too small. Graphically though, I am very impressed with it given it's not exactly a new smartphone anymore.
I also wouldnt mind getting rid of my several year old laptop and getting something new as I am very much a google user, hence why the chromebook appeals to me.
From what I can gather the Nexus 10 is powered by an ARM CortexTM-A15 dual core CPU clocked at 1.7, and running quad ARM MaliTM-T604 GPU. Every review I have read say this is ARM's best CPU & GPU combo, and for performance levels it's up there with the best tablets, and some really nice looking games are available as well. It's clearly leaps and bounds ahead of my puny SGSII which can output relatively decent graphics for a phone.
Flip now to the Samsung Chromebook 3, powered by the exact same CPU and GPU, why is it that most reviews for this state it's no good for games, it is only useful for browsing etc, and it struggles to play 1080p content? Surely if it's powered by the exact same technology it should be able to deliver the same performance, unless I am missing something In fact logically it should be faster as it's running a much lower resolution than the Nexus.
Is it just that as far as "ultrabooks" go, the Samsung Chromebook 3 is no where near a high end, and much more expensive x86 ultrabook and it's not being compared with the tablets it uses the same architecture as?
Thanks,
Chris.
