I have recently got the Chromecast 2 (2015 model) and I have to say its great. Its quick and works flawlessly. I'm using it to stream my movies via Plex and they play fine in glorious 5.1 surround sound on my main telly.

Now I also have a NUC running Kodi and that too I use Plex to stream movies to my main telly.

Seeing as both do exactly the same thing should I get shot of the NUC? No point in having 2 streaming devices attached to the same TV is there? or am i missing something here?

If the CC serves all your needs then I dont see a reason to have the NUC, Not a fan of Plex myself and much prefer Kodi but if you can live without Kodi then go for it.

This is what I cant understand.
What does Kodi do that CM cant?

The benefit of CC to me is that I can control it all on my Android phone where with Kodi i have to get my BT keyboard out (i know you can hook up a remote to Kodi).

Kodi and Plex both have nice interfaces and on the CC i can stream YouTube or any other app that supports CM which is another benefit.

Im struggling to see what benefit the NUC has when the £30 CC does everything...?!

I have a habit of buying things just to try them out incase anyone is wondering...

Kodi with a good skin gives an awesome GUI for your collection. I have 2 nucs with kodi and 2 chromecast2.
Prefer the cc2 to fire youtube, twitch and nowtv too. Prefer the nuc for movies and TV shows.

Also what about 24p

Oh I can control kodi from my TV remote.. Oh and my Android devices

With Kodi, install Kore on your Android devices, great remote software. Does everything.

I have a NUC for Kodi and use it for streaming catchup services etc. It also serves as a download box, plex server and just a general server for anything else I need to run, so clearly much more capable than a Chromecast but also 10x the price once you've installed memory and an SSD.

If you can get by with just the CC then go for it
