Chromecast and Apple AirPlay

I've got Android and a bunch of Chromecast Audio's. They're great.

The missus has Apple iphones and ipads. The only official way of getting them to play over Chromecast is with the Google Home app.
Which ain't great. In fact with Apple / Google bickering its getting worse by the update.

I have Kodi running as an Airplay receiver, and that just works great from the apple devices.

Is there any app, kodi plug-in or other hack where we can port an Airplay in, and stream it to a ChromeCast out?

Or do I just need to suck up a big pile of money and send it off for Sonos kit instead?

If I can't get a working solution, any plans I had of installing ceiling speakers and hidden hifi are pretty much over!
 
You could buy a cheap airport express - you can airplay to that and it has a 3.5mm and optical out. Alternately you could buy an Apple TV but if it is simply audio the airport express will do fine.
 
Well, I've got 3 Chromecasts, so I'd need to replace each with Airplay devices. And then I'd lose out on the Android ease of use.

AllCast is a pretty good app - it lets me stream or play from various sources around the house - but I was hoping for something that just works with the existing Apple apps.
