Hope this is in the right place, wasn't quite sure...

So, with the kids now flown the nest the wife and I are, fortunately enough, finding ourselves frequently flying off to see the world a bit. Generally we rent apartments, sometimes hotel rooms.

Traditionally I've taken my Chromecast with me and it still does the job. But sound in particular is becoming an issue, perhaps its our age but we really struggle with the speakers on those generally very basic TVs.

So I'm looking into options. I already have a Wonderboom bluetooth speaker which is pretty good, however this can't link to the Chromecast. From what I can see the Chromecast's replacement, the Google TV Streamer, would link to the speaker, but there may well be other, better, options.

Content-wise, we really just watch Netflix and stuff streamed from my home Emby server, so those are the only requirements.

TLDR:

I need a streaming device which will link to my bluetooth speaker and I can either cast from my phone or use native apps to play Netflix and Emby content.

I would go with the chromecast with google TV. All the apps are contained on the device and it has the ability to use bluetooth. Seems like it fits the bill for what you want. Just be aware it comes in either the hd or 4k version. There is also the new streamer which has been released to replace the chromecast with google tv, but I don't think it's worth the upgrade tbh.
