anyone else here suffer from anxiety ?,and has anyone managed to overcome it ? if so how :)

I've suffered for the last ten years :( started with a panic attack every few weeks but very manageable to where i am now 10 years later.i have been on many meds some worked some didn't the last of which was mirtazapine at the highest dose for 3.5 years  it got to the point where it wasn't as effective so the dr told me to switch meds but did not want to taper me off and on so took me off over 2 weeks which made me ill with withdrawal symptoms  been off work on and off over last 2 months (4 days at work) on and off diazepam.im now on new meds which are making me feel terrible.ive had cbt which didn't help and now i just need to find something that will work :)

thanks for the responses guys, both cbt and counselling and neither worked and for the poster who posted about citralapram yeah that was the first drug i was on and its the mildest they prescribe for anxciety I'm way beyond those :( anyone had hypnotherapy ? as i feel that is the last thing left to try ?

ginG just read your thread sorry :) i don't have any triggers as such apart from mild social anxiety and health anxiety, my biggest problem is the panic disorder thats the one causing the most problems I'm at a stage now where i have anxiety/panic attacks lasting 2-3 hours per day which leaves me exhausted afterwards  hopefully these new meds will help once i get to the dose needed and they are in my system fully.

I've had hypnotherapy (for something else) and it does work, you have to want it to, but it does.

However, seriously get that book I recommended it. It's AMAZING how much of a difference it makes. Like, it changed me over night. It's a small book too, won't take long to read.

If you cant afford it give me your address ill buy you a copy.
Thanks for your kind offer :D i can afford thankfully so will buy it today but i really appreciate that offer mate :) nice to know there are still some decent genuine ppl out there still

It wasnt citalopram. It was Escitalopram. Mine is more for anxiety than just depression!
my bad sorry never heard of that one :) I'm trying to stay away from all tablets used to treat depression and anxiety as i find they work best for depression and i don't suffer from that.

thanks for all the replies in this thread :) its great I'm not alone as its hard for those around me to understand what I'm going through and even harder to try and explain to them what it is I'm going through.

i ended up in hospital in spain on a family holiday, had huge panic attack think mainly due to the heat and the fact i started new meds the day before leaving home  i had tachycardia and sweating buckets the dr who came out thought i was having a heart attack called a ambulance, took me to a private hospital, they checked me over said i was ok but my sodium levels were low so they put me on a drip for a hour or two bloods came back fine :) the real bummer was because i had changed meds the day before and forgot to change the travel insurance it cost me 2500 euros

well back to the gp today for me my new meds are giving rally bad side effects :( due back to work wed but unless the dr has a quick temp fix i somehow doubt which is starting to get a little frustrating now.
